Once upon a time, there was a girl living in the area of Tengger in east java. She was not only beautiful, but also very diligent. Her name was Putri Arumdalu. She had good personality. That was why she had a lot of friends.
In her village, she was very famous among the boys at her age. She was also adored by a lot of boys. A lot of boys wanted to marry her, but she refused it. She respected her parents. She did what her parents wished.
Meanwhile, Putri Arumdalu grew up. More and more boys adored her. Her parents were very happy. Her parents wanted to marry her to a noble family. Prince Lasito was the choice of Putri Arumdalu’s parents.
“You must marry to Prince Lasito. He is a hard working smart man. You will be happy to be with him.” , said Putri Arumdalu’s father.
Time went by. Prince Lasito changed a lot. He did not love Putri Arumdalu. He was back to his past habit. Putri Arumdalu’s father did not know that Prince Lasito liked gambling and drinking.
Putri Arumdalu felt so sad. He got angry reaching home. He wanted everything was there. He did not work, but he wanted more money for gambling and drinking. He got angry quickly if Putri Arumdalu could not serve him well. She was really treaded cruelly.
“My husband it is midnight. Please stop your bad habit”, asked Putri Arumdalu.
“Where have you been?”, asked his wife again.
“What?, You may go out if you don’t like”, said Prince Lasito unconsciously while drinking. Prince Lasito walked unsteadily and went to bed.
It was in the morning. Prince Lasito got up late. He asked his wife to prepare breakfast before he went to his friend.
“I will go out”, told Putri Arumdalu, his wife.
“Where to?”, asked Putri Arumdalu.
“You must not know and don’t be silly”, Prince Lasito answered.
Prince Lasito went away. He seemed not to think of his family. He did not take care of his wife, Putri Arumdalu. He felt that he was still a bachelor. He spent most of his time on gaming, gambling, and drinking.
A few years later. Putri Arumdalu realized that her husband did not need her anymore. She felt that she could not live together with him. It seemed that her future was dark. Putri Arumdalu prayed to go to remind her husband.
“Oh god, remind my husband. Show him the best away to bring him back to you. I can’t do anything anymore. I felt so sad cause of his bad habit. I’m sure 2×, his fault his so much. So, I ask you as his wife. Please for give him 2×,Please for give him god”.
It was in the afternoon. It was cloudy. I seemed that it would rainy heavily. There was a lot of bird on the sky. Prince Lasito just got up.
“My husband, your lifestyle is like a bird”, said Putri Arumdalu. All of sudden, Prince Lasito changed into a bird.
Since then on, Prince Lasito never came back to the village and Putri Arumdalu lived happily with her family.
